Why I’m switching back to Windows

Update: I have to say it’s funny how passionate people get about this topic. Just for some background, I developed on Vista for a couple of years before switching to OSX. I was one of the few who didn’t think it was that bad. But the important thing is that I have an Apple laptop so switching back and forth takes only a minute. Also, it’s important in my job to know what the experience of our tools is like on all operating systems. But those three ugly balls that constitute the close/minimize/maximize(sometimes) buttons on OSX are just too much for me to look at right now.

That’s right, I have switched to Windows 7 on my laptop for my day-to-day work. There are many reasons why I decided to do this. The biggest is simply that I am bored with OSX. For me, the look and feel of an OS is very important and OSX is really dated now. I have always loved the Aero glass look of Vista and it has only gotten nicer in Windows 7. There are also some really nice UI enhancements as well. A more practical reason is that the vast majority of the evangelism team is on OSX so I thought it would be good to try and balance things a little. After all, the majority of our users are not on OSX. The beauty of having a MacBook Pro is that I can still boot into OSX anytime I want as well so you get the best of both worlds.
